CANSKATE


PASS
(2 -4 years)

This program is designed for our youngest skaters who would benefit from having a parent/ guardian join them on the ice as they begin their skating journey.

PreCanSkate
(3 - 13 years)

This program is for skaters with NO prior skating experience or those graduating from our PASS program who are not yet able to stand and move independently on the ice. 

CanSkate
(3 - 13 years)

Skaters should be able to stand and move independently on the ice and will be placed in a group according to their skill. Skaters will learn the fundamentals for all ice sports.  Those with NO prior experience should register for PreCanSkate

 

PreBronze
(3 - 13 years)

 This program is for skaters who are interested in pursuing figure skating. Participants MUST have passed the complete CanSkate Stage 4 or be approved by the CanSkate Director. Skaters will work on the skills required to complete the CanSkate program with an emphasis on figure-skating specific skills and form. 

 

 

HOCKEY

SKATING 


Hockey CanSkate  
(3+ years)

This program is run on our CanSkate session and is for skaters wanting to focus on hockey-specific skating skills once basic fundamentals have been established. Participants should be working on CanSkate Stage 3 or higher and be able to skate forwards and backwards comfortably. Skaters who do not meet the minimum skill requirements will be placed in a CanSkate group.

Edge Dominance
(13+ years)

This program is for advanced hockey players looking to improve their skating skills.  Figure skating edge techniques will be used to give players a competitive edge. Participants will be expected to execute crossovers, edges (both forwards and backwards), one-foot turns and stops with speed.

 


STARSKATE


Bronze Group

Our two-day-per-week training program for Figure Skaters working on Star 1-2 assessments, providing skaters with consistent development, progression and training, both on and off ice, throughout the season.  For legacy skaters, a one-day per week option is also available upon approval of the StarSkate Director.

ADULT

SKATING


Adult CanSkate
(13 + years)

This program is for teens and adults  who wish to learn to skate. No prior experience is required. Open to all levels. Skaters can choose to wear hockey or figure skates for this program.

 

Adult PreBronze
(13+ years)

 This program is designed for teens and adults who want to develop their figure skating skills.  Skaters must have passed Stage 4 or be approved by the CanSkate Director.  Figure skates and proper skating attire must be worn.  Helmets must be worn until the skater has achieved Stage 5 or its equivalent.

 

 

ADAPTIVE 

SKATING


Adaptive CanSkate
(3+ years)

This program is for skaters with special needs (physical, developmental, intellectual) who will benefit from a smaller group with more individualized attention but are able to participate independently. No skating experience is required.  Skaters who no longer require the extra support will be transitioned to a CanSkate group on the same session as appropriate.  Those who qualify may graduate to our FHIST Special Olympics program.

Special Olympics
(10+ years)

Our Special Olympics program is open to skaters 10+ years of age wishing to learn to skate and needing more support than is offered in our traditional CanSkate program.  Participants will work on developing fundamental skating skills in a program designed for their particular learning needs.
