FEES

  • All skaters are subject to a mandatory Skate Canada Membership fee that is charged per skater per year (Sept 1- Aug 31). A skater who is a registered member of another skating club and can produce a valid Skate Canada registration card for the current year will not be charged Skate Canada Membership Fees by FHFSC. Skate Canada fees are determined, set and paid to Skate Canada through the club at skater registration per year.
  • In addition to the Skate Canada fee, there is an annual FHFSC Club Administration fee per skater each year.  All fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.
  • Skate Canada Membership Fees and Club Administration fees are mandatory annual fees valid from September 1 - August 31. This fee cannot be prorated to when you start.
  • All fees and service charges are subject to change without prior notice. Fees will be posted on the FHFSC web site.
  • Program fees are automatically prorated to your start date.  We are unable to adjust fees should a participant wish to end a program early.
  • Program fees are non-refundable after the first class. There will be $30 administration charge for any cancellations prior to the start of the first class.
  • Private Skaters are permitted to one switch of their session during the season and they must continue skating on the new session for the remainder of the season. All such changes must be made in writing and be approved by the club office and Competitive Director. An Administration fee of $30 will be charged for each change and no discount will be applied to session fees for such changes.

REFUNDS

  • FHFSC does not issue refunds, credits, make-up sessions, or ticket-ice for any reason other than medical withdrawal from a program and requests must be accompanied by a doctor's note
  • Skate Canada fees are non-refundable after submission to Skate Canada.
  • Refunds or credits may be issued in the case of sustained medical injuries or illness, which results in a skater missing 3 or more classes.  The request for refund must be made in writing to the Office and must include a valid medical doctors note. All decisions are final. 
  • A refund or credit will be granted if such a refund is requested before the first day of the full session/hour of the week for which the refund is requested.
  • In any scenario, the Skate Canada Membership Fee and FHFSC Administration Fee are non-refundable.
  • Forest Hill Figure Skating Club will not issue any refunds (in part or in full), make up classes or offer ticket ice in lieu of refunds in the case of withdrawal from any of FHFSCs programs. Any outstanding amounts owing to FHFSC at the time of withdrawal are deemed outstanding and must be paid in full.
  • Forest Hill Figure Skating Club does not and will not offer make up classes, refunds (in part or in full), or credits for any reason. This includes classes cancelled by the Club due to inclement weather or extraordinary circumstances beyond the Club's control.
  • Forest Hill Figure Skating Club will not issue any refunds (in part or in full), or make up classes or offer ticket ice in lieu of refunds or make ups in the case of dismissal from the ice.  Any outstanding amounts owing to FHFSC at the time of dismissal are deemed outstanding and must be paid in full. 
  • FHFSC will not issue a refund (in part or in full), but FHFSC will offer ticket ice in lieu of refunds in the case of ice time being changed or pre-empted for FHFSC events, competitions, test days, or fun-skates. 

PAYMENTS

  • Forest Hill Figure Skating Club accepts the following types of payments: Cash, Visa, MasterCard and cheques. FHFSC does not accept debit, Visa-Debit, money orders, e-transfers or post-dated cheques. Instalment payments must be paid by credit card. There is a service charge of $50.00 for all NSF cheques.
  • Full season skaters are eligible for an early bird discount if paid in full by August 20th of the current season. The current season runs from September to May. 
  • Full season skaters that do not qualify for the early bird discount may pay using 3 instalment payments.  
  • Instalment payments are due as follows: 
    • 1/3 of total season fee upon registration
    • 1/3 on October 1st of the current season
    • 1/3 on November 1st of the current season
  • The Board of Directors may cancel the membership of any skater that is deemed not in good standing. Overdue accounts owed to FHFSC include but not limited to ice time(s)

 

REGISTRATION

  • FHFSC reserves the right to change or cancel sessions if minimum registration requirements are not met or other reasons at our discretion. Members will be notified in advance regarding any such changes.
  • All registrations MUST be done online before arriving for the session. Skaters will not be permitted to skate if they are not registered. If assistance is required, members can contact us by email at office@fhfsc.ca prior to the start of the session.
  • Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and we cannot guarantee a spot on your preferred day/time. Please register promptly to ensure you reserve a spot for your skater.
  • Registration is closed for any session that is filled to capacity. Registration is considered complete once FHFSC receives the completed online registration form with payment in full for each registered skater.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

  • Participants in PASS: All individuals on the ice MUST hold a valid Skate Canada Membership for insurance purposes.
  • Skaters participating in Learn to Skate Programs (PASS, PreCanSkate, CanSkate, Adult CanSkate): ALL participants must be wearing skates, a CSA-approved hockey helmet (required until skater has passed CanSkate Stage 5 or equivalent), long pants, mittens, warm sweater or jacket.
  • Skaters are expected to provide their own equipment, including helmets.
  • Skaters participating in CanPowerSkate programs: Full equipment including a CSA-approved hockey helmet with full face cage is permitted when CanPowerSkate is running on a CanSkate session. On other hockey sessions, full equipment may be required or prohibited, please read the registration information carefully for more details. 
  • Skaters participating in PreSTAR and STAR groups: Proper figure skating attire is required. Helmets are required until the skater has passed CanSkate Stage 5 (or equivalent) and helmets/headbands are optional after that point.
  • Participants must be qualified to skate on the session they have chosen.  If a skater does not meet the requirements, they will not be permitted to skate and will be required to change their registration to an appropriate session.  Any exceptions must be approved by Club Management.
  • Skaters under the age of 10: A parent, guardian or designee MUST remain on the premises for the duration of the program. 
  • Parents (not including those registered in our PASS program) are NOT permitted on the ice surface.
  • The Club is not responsible for any items left on the ice or anywhere in the Arena.
  • The Club reserves right to dispose of unclaimed items after the end of the season.

HELMETS

In accordance with Skate Canada, helmets must be worn by all skaters (including adults) who have not passed CanSkate stage five (5) in its entirety. See Skate Canada official policy at the bottom of this document.  

WAIVERS

All skaters, or their guardians, must execute a waiver of liability at the time of registration for programs with FHFSC. Participation without an executed waiver is strictly prohibited

ICE USE

The FHFSC reserves the right to change sessions or ice times without notice at any time during the skating season.  

RE-SURFACING

Should safety conditions require ice re-surfacing, FHFSC reserves the right to deduct the necessary time from any session in accordance with the Larry Grossman or Phil White arena policy without reimbursement.

BEHAVIOUR AND ICE ETIQUETTE

  • FHFSC reserves the right to remove from the ice:
  • Skater(s) that display dangerous and or disruptive behaviour(s) or action(s) that are deemed dangerous. 
  • Parent/guardian and or observers that enter the ice surface.
  • Parent/guardian or observers that display dangerous and or disruptive behaviour(s) or actions that are deemed dangerous. 
  • Skater(s), parent/guardian(s), observer(s) and coach(es) that breaches FHFSC Rules.  
  • FHFSC may revoke the membership of any skater without refund.

PRIVATE LESSONS AND COACHING

  • Private and open sessions offer ice-time only.  Members are required to arrange their own private coaching.  If you need assistance connecting with a private coach, please contact the Club at office@fhfsc.ca
  • Each private coach is responsible for their own fee structure and policies.  Any issues or concerns with private lesson scheduling or fees are to be addressed directly to the private coach.
  • If a skater is not registered the coach will be unable to teach them.
  • The Club will not provide a refund, credit or make-up lesson if a private coach cancels a lesson or is unavailable on the scheduled day/time.  Alternate arrangements must be made with the coach directly

 

TICKET ICE

  • FHFSC member skaters must be registered for a minimum of 1 regularly scheduled session with FHFSC either in a group or private lesson. 
  • Skaters must be registered for a Program to skate with us. There is no drop-in ticket ice option during the season.
  • Registered Skaters can add up to 3 ticket ice sessions on a specific day/time for extra practice during the season without being registered for an additional program, subject to approval by the office and availability.
  • Non-registered skaters can do up to 3 ticket ice sessions and after that they must register for the Program, subject to approval by the office and availability.
  • The ticket ice fee for any additional practice time is $35 per session.
  • Non-member skaters must show valid Skate Canada registration and must skate at their appropriate levels.  
  • Ticket ice fees, for members and guests, are subject to change without prior notice. Please check FHFSC web site for current pricing.
